FACULTY


Marcia Medvitz is Director of Symphonic Band  and Stage Band.  She teaches brass and percussion lessons and several 6th grade music classes.   Ms.Medvitz has been the Choral Director at MSMS for the past two years. You can log onto her blog  at Ms. Medvitz's Blog.  Ms. Medvitz has her Bachelors in Music Education from the University of New Hampshire and is currently persuing a graduate degree at Northeastern University.  Early in her career, she taught music for 4 years at the American Embassy school in New Delhi, India. Before MSMS, she served as the Music Director at Presentation of Mary Academy in Methuen.  Ms. Medvitz has performed at venues such as The Northshore Music Theater, Lincoln Center, and Symphony Hall.
Mr. Andrew Mullen is the General Music teacher for 6th and 7th grades, as well as the director of Choral Union and Select Chorus. Mr. Mullen is originally from Binghamton, New York, and studied English at Ithaca College, later earning his Masters in School Administration from Mercy College. He spent the first part of his career teaching English and Theatre, both in Binghamton and in various boroughs of New York City. He recently went back to school for Music Education at The Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, and spent three years teaching grades K-5 at PS 212 in Queens. Mr. Mullen is a self-described "Jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none" and plays, with varying degrees of ability, piano, guitar, fiddle, banjo, harmonica, and accordion. He also is interested in folk dance, clogging, and is a Square Dance caller. His hobbies include cooking, Old Time music, traditional Irish music, gardening, Chess, a Capella singing, Sea Chanties, Barbershop Quartet, film, yodeling, and grading 5 paragraph essays.  He maintains a web presence at www.MisterMullen.com.
