Select Chorus at Grandview Farm

On Wednesday, December 2nd, the MSMS Select Chorus performed a show at the Grandview Farm in Burlington. They sang several songs from their upcoming concert, and featured several students singing their favorite holiday songs solo. The audience, volunteers from the Burlington community, was very appreciative of our performance.

Hello Music Students!

Welcome back to MSMS. We hope everyone had a great summer, and is excited to get back to our performing groups. 

AUDITION INFO:

Select Chorus: 

(Be sure to let your teacher know politely!)

Auditions will be on Wednesday, September 2nd and Thursday, September 3rd.

A sign-up sheet will be posted on the Chorus Room door.

The audition will consist of 3 parts.

1.  PITCH: You will sing “Happy Birthday” (Sing to anyone you want!) a capella.  You may sing it any way that you like, including any vocal “stylings” you choose.  

2.  RHYTHM: I will chant some rhythm patterns, and you will chant them back.  I am listening to see if you can keep a steady beat, and checking your musical memory.

3.  TESTING YOUR “EAR”: Students in Select Chorus need to be able to hold their own part in much more challenging music than Choral Union.  I will check your musical ear in a few ways.

***ALL students need to audition for Select Chorus even if you were in it last year.

Symphonic Band:

Auditions will be on Wednesday, September 2nd.

A sign-up sheet will be posted on the Band Room door.

It was a GREAT Great East!

Students from the MSMS Music Department traveled to Salem, NH, and had a wonderful time performing, as well as hanging out in the park. Of note was the annual Teachers Vs. Students Bumper Cars. See below for some pics. A good time was had by all!

UPCOMING DATES!

TUES. MAY 26TH, 7 PM  SPRING CONCERT

*Dress: Blue T-shirt, nice looking jeans, comfortable shoes (sneakers ok)

*Arrive 6:30 (Concert Band to Cafeteria, Symphonic Band to Band Room, Chorus and

House Band to Chorus Room)

FRI. MAY 29TH    GREAT EAST MUSIC FESTIVAL/CANOBIE LAKE

*Students will wear their Band/Chorus shirts and pants or decent shorts (no

short shorts please) and any kind of comfortable footwear.

*Students check in with their homeroom teacher upon arrival at school and proceed directly to the music area.

*Bus will leave school at 8:45 am (from the Peach Orchard side)

*Bring a bag lunch. We’ll eat on the bus. You can either bring your supper or bring money to buy it at the park. If you bring your own supper we will have to go out to the bus to eat (the park doesn’t allow food to be brought in).

*Keep in mind that any backpacks or purses will have to be left on the bus during

the Music Festival. Once we get to the park they will either have to be left on the

bus or you will have to carry it around all day.

*The bus will return to school (in the front) at approximately 8:00 pm
