MSMS Symphonic Band To Play Football Game!
NEWS FLASH!!
The MSMS Symphonic Band has been invited to join the High School Band at the Oct. 17th football game. The two bands will be combined to play The National Anthem at the start of the game around 7pm. Participation is voluntary. Any student who chooses to participate, though, must be accompanied by a parent. Parents do not have to pay to get in.
Here are the details….
Meet at the high school music department at 6 PM.
Line up with the High School Band at 6:15 (music and stands will already be on the sideline).
Wear anything that is appropriate to the weather. The BHS band will be in uniform. If students can wear red and white, that would be a bonus, but dress actually isn't a big deal.
After the National Anthem is played, MSMS students will go back to the HS music room to get their cases.

MSMS Select Chorus Goes "On the Road!"
On Friday, September 26th, the Burlington Public Schools were recognized as one of top districts for music education in the country. As part of the celebration, we won a special two day-residency with the John Lennon tour bus, which is a mobile, state of the art recording and video studio. More info here: http://www.lennonbus.org/
In addition to interesting panels and discussions about music education, there were several performances, including the MSMS Select Chorus. We performed "Seasons of Love" along with last year's House Band. It was a wonderful reunion.
Special thanks to Mr. Middleton-Cox for being such a gracious host. (I know MSMS had more than its fair share of cookies!)

Square Dance at MSMS!
SQUARE DANCE!
On Friday, May 16th, MSMS hosted its first ever Square Dance for the 6th grade in the gym. The event featured our own MSMS Minstrels and House Band, who provided live music. Mr. Mullen, whose inner "twang" shone through, was the caller for the dance, leading the 6th graders through Do Si Do, swing your partner, and more.
It was a fun event! Several students won cash prizes for the Best Costume. We even had a teacher dance!
A good time was had by all who attended.
