House Band members Neil and Josh wrote an amazing song called "It's Almost Christmas," and the whole House Band performed it at the 2013 Holiday Assembly in the gym. They brought the house down!
Mrs. Medvitz, Mr. Mullen, and Mr. Middleton have been entertaining students and teachers every Friday in the main lobby as they walk in the building. We haven't been kicked out yet!
Neil Bhammar wrote and performed this original song called "Nowhere to Hide" with the House Band at the 2013 Halloween Assembly. Great song! Great performance! Great band!
Here are some flashbacks to the good old days of The Brahms Folk Songs, Mister Sandman, and I Don't Wanna Grow Up! These were taken at The Mass Bay Music Festival and the Spring Concert. Enjoy!
I hope you are all enjoying your summer so far! I have been busy visiting family and friends, as well as taking some courses online. It's been a pretty busy summer. I miss you all a lot, though. Do drop me a line when you get a chance, and let me know how you are. :)
As you know, Select Chorus is an auditioned group, and even those who were in it last year will be required to audition again. For those of you who would like a head start on the audition over the summer, I have prepared an audition packet for you, including some practice mp3s. You can download it here:

On Wednesday, June 5th, the SELECT CHORUS celebrated a successful year of assemblies, concerts, and festivals with an afternoon pizza party! We stuffed ourselves to the gills with pizza and soda. We even had some cake to celebrate one of our fallen comrades, Dillon Banks, who will be leaving us this year for the greater pastures of Cape Cod. Good luck, Dillon!
Congratulations go out to the MSMS Symphonic Band and Select Chorus for receiving a SUPERIOR rating this Friday at the Mass Bay Music Festival. Both groups also received a perfect score from one of the judges!
After the festival, we traveled to Canobie Lake, where enjoyed a few hours in the sun, going on rides, and eating snacks.
Here are Mrs. Gendron, Mrs. Medvitz and Mr. Mullen about to get soaked on the Log Flume!
Teachers vs. Students on the Bumper Cars.

The Select Chorus and The Marshall Simonds Minstrels performed the song "Cripple Creek" at The Scholar's Brunch on Wednesday, March 13th, 2013. The performance was well received! The audience was filled with parents, teachers, Principal Connors, as well as our Superintendent Dr. Conti and Assistant Superintendent Mr. Larkin, who shared this video he took on his iPad.
The BHS Music Department's production of "Hairspray!" went on tour this week. One of their stops was Marshall Simonds Middle School. Students in 7th Grade got to watch the high school students perform several songs from their show, which runs March 15, 16, 22, 23, and 24 at the High School. Several students from the MSMS Select Chorus even helped out on spotlight. It was a great time!
Two of our staff are involved in the production, as well. Mr. Mullen is the music director, and our own Mrs. Medvitz is playing keyboard in the pit.
Congratulations to the following students for making it into Junior Districts this year!
Patrick Creedon, Mark Czerwinski, Nail Bhammar, Laura Harder, Crystal Curran, Gabby Corsino, Mia Campbell, Anna Tamura and Daniel Xue.
